Beer and cheese and more

In this episode, Ian does a little entertaining while discovering some new Canadian cheeses. He hosts a beer and cheese tasting and gets some expert pairing advice. He meets a cheese maker with some intriguing new varieties of fine artisanal cheese. And speaks to a cheese boutique owner about his passion for cheeses with personality.

Part 1:  Beer and cheese tasting

Ian’s first beer and cheese get-together is a hit, thanks to great advice from Mark Hemsworth of the Springbank Cheese Company. The most important rule of beer and cheese tasting? Experiment, and see what excites your palate.

If you’d like to host a beer and cheese tasting, but aren’t sure how to get started, you can find information on pairings, presentation and portions here.

Like most aspects of Halifax culture, the city’s foodie scene is lively and fun. When seeking organic foods and expert advice, it’s worth checking out Pete’s Frootique which offers fruits, vegetables, imported goods and of course, the excellent cheeses of Tast’a Gouda.
